Inspiration Arch & Friendship Bench

This archway was created for the new gardens at the Sallie B. Howard School in Wilson, North Carolina, in 2024. The piece is made of two geometric abstract wave forms that cross over each other, one made of stainless steel and the other of CorTen, a weathering steel. The arch contains the word “inspire” in English, Swahili, and Spanish.

As part of the project, the artist was also asked to create a Friendship Bench, with specific engravings. The bench is made of a pressure treated lumber, engraved 1/4” deep with the wording.
